Greenpoint - Recycling is very popular in Germany. Biodegradable rubbish gets taken away and composted, glass is melted down (bottles generally have a deposit) and re-used, and most packaging bears the 'green point' which indicates that it can also be recycled. In order to comply with the recycling laws, manufacturers joined forces to create Duales System Deutschland. DSD licenses the use of the "Green Point" -- a symbol that guarantees that the manufacturer will recycle the package. The "Die Duales System Deutschland AG" is responsible in Germany for recycling all packaging material with the green point (Gruner Punkt) e.g. also for all packaging of tinplate.
